Liturgy for the Blessing of a Same-sex Civil Marriage or Civil Partnerships

We extend a warm and inclusive welcome to all members of the LGBT+ community in our group of churches. We are delighted to offer same-sex couples the opportunity to celebrate their love and commitment through a service of blessing following their civil marriage.

We believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, and we celebrate the diversity of love and relationships within our congregation. Regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, all are embraced and valued as beloved members of our community.

Since March 29, 2014, under the provisions of this Act, same-sex marriages have been legally recognized in England and Wales.

Although same-sex marriages may not be solemnized by the Church in Wales at present, we are proud to offer a service for the blessing of a same-sex civil marriage or civil partnership in our Llangollen group of churches.

Following approval at the Governing Body of the Church in Wales in September 2021, a Liturgy for the Blessing of a Same-sex Civil Marriage or Civil Partnership has been authorized by the bishops for use in each of the dioceses from October 1, 2021. The text of the service is available here for those interested.

Second marriages are conducted in the Llangollen Group of Churches

Even if you cannot get married in one of our churches, we may be able to offer a service of blessing, thanksgiving or suitable prayers as you begin your new life together.
